Oak Square is said to have been formed around an ancient oak tree that was along a Native American path that was the oldest tree in Massachusetts. The village of Oak Square was originally formed by Nonatatum and Faneuil Streets. The first English settlement came in 1647-1649. The area was also home to the first ever school in all of Allston-Brighton, and the area was additionally home to the third ever streetcar line in Allston-Brighton.
Brighton’s commercial center and Historic District, Brighton Center is a lively hub for bar hoppers and foodies.
